Since entering the banking industry in 1997, Amber has advanced through virtually every level of retail banking, beginning as a teller and ultimately becoming an Assistant Vice President Branch Manager at Savers Bank.

For Amber, however, her career has never been simply about professional advancement. It has been about people. Whether helping a first-time customer open an account, guiding a family through the home-buying process, supporting a business owner, or watching longtime clients return years later with their children, Amber finds purpose in creating relationships that last.

Her banking journey began shortly after she and her husband relocated from Michigan to Massachusetts. Unsure of exactly where her professional path would lead, Amber accepted her first banking position with People’s Savings Bank in Taunton. Over the years, Amber has held leadership positions with People’s Savings Bank, Brockton Credit Union, Barre Savings Bank, Fidelity Co-operative Bank, AllCom Credit Union, and Savers Bank. At Barre Savings Bank, she progressed to Regional Manager, overseeing all three branches before continuing her leadership journey following the institution’s merger with Fidelity Co-operative Bank in 2016.

Throughout her career, Amber has developed expertise across personal and business banking, branch operations, lending, compliance, business development, customer retention, and team development. Her broad experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of the industry while reinforcing what she believes matters most: listening to people, earning their trust, and helping them find solutions.

Amber attributes much of her success to the lessons she has learned from failure.

“If you open your heart and have genuine conversations with people, the numbers will happen,” Amber believes.

That relationship-first philosophy is also reflected in her approach to team development. Amber is passionate about coaching employees, helping them recognize their potential, and creating an environment where they feel empowered to learn from challenges rather than fear them.

Her commitment to mentoring is particularly strong when it comes to young women considering careers in banking. Amber encourages those entering the industry not to overlook the teller line, which she describes as an extraordinary foundation for a banking career.

Her own experience is proof of the opportunities that can begin there.

Getting started as a teller introduced Amber to an industry with far more possibilities than she initially realized. From cybersecurity and information technology to bank secrecy, financial education, and financial literacy, banking can open doors to a wide range of professional paths.

Amber also encourages young women not to be afraid of taking chances.

“Sometimes it’s scary, but don’t be afraid to do what’s scary,” she advises.

She believes that one of the industry’s greatest opportunities is its ability to provide young people with a practical foundation. Customer service experience, financial knowledge, and exposure to different aspects of business can become valuable building blocks for a long-term career. She also points out that many financial institutions provide educational support, including opportunities to pursue college with employer assistance after meeting certain employment requirements.

For Amber, expanding access to these opportunities is personal. When she first moved to Massachusetts, she did not know exactly where to begin. Banking ultimately provided her with the opportunity to establish herself, develop valuable skills, and build a career she continues to find deeply rewarding.

She believes more young women should be introduced to those possibilities early, including high school seniors who may not have a clear path to college or a defined career plan.

Another challenge Amber sees within the industry is the lack of clear guidance available to people just beginning their careers. She emphasizes the importance of finding a strong mentor who can provide direction, encouragement, and perspective.

At the same time, she believes women can do more to mentor one another.

“We could do a better job of mentoring each other and lifting each other up,” Amber says, emphasizing the importance of reaching out to younger women and showing them that there are multiple pathways to professional success.

For Amber, leadership ultimately comes back to a set of values that guide both her professional and personal life: integrity, honesty, authenticity, kindness, and empathy.

She believes people never truly know what someone else may be experiencing. A simple act of kindness or a genuine conversation can make a meaningful difference, which is why Amber consistently encourages others to lead with their hearts.

That philosophy extends into her family life as well. Amber often shares the message of kindness with her children, drawing inspiration from the Dr. Seuss book You Are Kind. Its central lesson — to treat others with compassion because you never know what they may be going through — aligns closely with the principles she strives to demonstrate every day.

Outside of banking, Amber treasures time with her husband, whom she considers her best friend, as well as her children and grandchildren. The family enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors together.
